Pine Grosbeak

ピューイピューイと高く澄んだ鳴き声が白樺とトウヒの森に響き渡る。雌を呼んでいるのかな？そろそろ彼らも営巣の時期を迎える頃だろう。

春の到来

The spring arrival 

長く厳しい冬を冬眠というかたちで生きぬいたホッキョクジリス。

昨日のブリザードと打って変わって今日は穏やか陽気。
ホッキョクジリスも巣穴から顔を出してなんなだか気持ちよさそうだ。

北極圏にて

In Arctic

残雪季の北極圏。

夕暮れ時、カリブーの牝の群れが北へ向かって移動している。きっと多くの牝がお腹に新たな命を宿していることであろう。そして、ゆっくりと確実な足取りで地平線の彼方に消えていった。

しばらくすると、どこからともなく２頭のオオカミが姿を表し、まるでカリブーの群れを追っているかのように、通り過ぎていった。

カリブーの群れと二頭のオオカミ。そして自分。どこかでお互いの生命が繋がっていること感じていた。

アラスカヒグマの親子

晩秋のアラスカで、ヒグマの親子がお互いの体をぴったりくっつけて、しばらくの間、川面をじっと見つめていました。
産卵を終えて、下流にゆらゆらと流されてくるサケを待っているようです。

長い間、川面を見つめていた親子はサケが来ないと気づくと、茂みを通り抜け森へと帰って行きました。

I encountered mother bear and cubs of the brown bear which stared at a surface of a river in Alaska of the late fall.

When those bears which had been staring at the surface of a river for a long time noticed that a salmon did not come, those bear went back to the forest through a bush.

遠き山に日は落ちて

人気のほとんどない冬のデナリ国立公園。

夕刻になると空気が澄み渡り、遠くに残照を浴びたデナリが姿を現した。

雨水

降る雪が雨へと変わり、氷が溶け出す頃。
しかし、北極圏はまだまだ雨水とは程遠い厳しい冬が続いていた。
